It's Taboo!

Taboo and Whoopi don’t seem like an ideal match.  But, sometimes it takes candor and a sense of humor to cure your “taboos”.

Our Real Women on Health fabulous women’s advocate Missy Lavender joined the View with Whoopi to speak out on a condition affecting one in three women: Light Bladder Leakage.  Missy calls it a “spritz” and Whoopi says it’s not like turning on a faucet. Not to be confused with overactive bladder, light bladder leakage has many causes such as pregnancy, diabetes, nerve damage, pelvic surgery and many others.

If you missed the View with Missy and Whoopi,  just watch it here.

Using humor and facts to bring women out of the closet on light bladder leakage. But there’s more to it than “spritz”. Bladder health, sexual health, breast health, reproductive health. These are all taboo topics, embarrassing and keep you from being your best YOU!

Many of these topics are taboo because we’re ashamed of our body and feelings of sexuality.

Want to get over it? Need some help?  We all do!

Here’s our top three tips for today

Bust your own taboos and join the sisterhood of real women on health!

1. Identify your secrets! Secrets can be powerful but not if you’re embarrassed about them.  Got an embarrassing health condition that you’re keeping secret? Read this and take control of your pelvic health.  If you need more information about pelvic health and wellness, ask Missy.  She started the Women’s Health Foundation to encourage women to take control of their pelvic health.

2. Join an empowerment or women’s circle.  Research shows that women who support other women gain increased confidence and fulfillment in their own lives.   Meet Margaret Wagner, a women’s sensuality and lifestyle entrepreneur who is breaking down barriers for women.  Join one of her women’s circles and find the spark that reveals YOU to your own self.

3. Ignite Your Own Engine of Desire. Check out Juneau and Xena Princess Warrior two women who’ve refused to be defined by the box midlife women are all inadvertently “stuffed into”.    In their blog and book, Juneau and Xena PW hare how they are tapping  into their own “engine of desire”. Not an Adam fan? You can’t deny that  Juneau and Xena Warrior Princess have stepped out of expected place in the world to ignite their passion and improve their own sense of well-being.

Better yet, what’s your passion that is reigniting health and happiness in YOUR life????

Please email us your own “sparks” and help to support our goals to enhance women’s wellness and well-being!
